Project Manager - Plumbing Service

Department: Plumbing Service
Location: Madison, WI

Monona Plumbing & Fire Protection is looking for a Project Manager/Estimator for our Plumbing Service Division!

Job Summary
The Project Manager/Estimator plays a key role in growing and delivering our plumbing service and small projects work. This position blends estimating, project management, and customer development, serving as a trusted partner from initial walkthrough through successful completion. You will own service and small project opportunities, helping drive profitable work while building long-term customer relationships.

This role is ideal for an experienced plumbing professional who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction, and seeing projects through from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate plumbing costs for service calls and small projects
  • Do service and project walk throughs
  • Acquire pricing from vendors to assist in putting together estimate
  • Establish costs for labor, material, equipment subcontractors and other direct job costs
  • Produce estimates/proposals for customers
  • Purchase materials
  • Interact with field plumber to insure work is delivered to estimate
  • Responsible for project management of work sold to ensure profitability
  • Initiate and maintain contact with customer from start to completion of work
  • Develop and maintain customer relationships
  • Identifies opportunities for upselling and cross-selling other services to key customers

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Hands-on experience in the plumbing trade with demonstrated success in field operations, estimating, and/or project management. Journeyman or Master Plumber license preferred, with strong working knowledge of plumbing systems, equipment, codes, and industry standards
  • Proven ability to diagnose plumbing issues in the field, identify practical solutions, and translate findings into clear scopes of work and accurate estimates. Ability to read, interpret, and apply plumbing drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with initiative in identifying work opportunities, solving problems, and following projects through from start to finish.
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build trust, credibility, and long-term relationships.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Formal education in Engineering or Construction Management a plus, or an equivalent combination of technical training and trade experience.

Work Environment

  • Work is split between the office and the field, with travel to customer & project sites within the Southern WI area
  • Frequent communication with customers, vendors, and field staff through verbal, written, and in-person interactions

Pay Range

$70k-$110k base with additional bonus plan & vehicle allowance. Placement on pay range is dependent on experience.
