Project Manager - Plumbing Construction

Department: Plumbing Contract
Location: Madison, WI

Job Summary:
The Project Manager for Plumbing Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of plumbing construction projects, including estimating, project management, and business development. They will be involved in all tasks necessary to complete accurate estimates and will manage projects from bid preparation to final completion. This role requires independent project supervision on projects of varying sizes and complexities and entails direct profit and loss responsibility for assigned projects. The Project Manager will take full responsibility for project management to ensure successful outcomes for both customers and the company.

Responsibilities:
- Identify new project opportunities and attend pre-bid meetings and walkthroughs
- Review plans, specifications, and bid documents to gather all necessary information for accurate estimates
- Follow up with General Contractors/Engineers to address budgeting questions and pricing
- Perform bid layouts, material counts, and prepare totals
- Perform detailed material take-offs per system and procure all necessary quotes
- Create project estimates and prepare proposals and documentation for submission
- Prepare project budgets and schedule of values
- Attend project meetings and provide input and updates on progress
- Monitor labor, material, and job cost reports to maximize performance and profitability
- Participate in monthly WIP meetings and assist with monthly billings
- Purchase materials for all assigned jobs
- Manage and coordinate project activities to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
- Monitor construction progress through direction and support of foreman, addressing any potential job cost impacts
- Prepare and submit change orders for projects and manage change orders to maintain profitability and scope of work
- Serve as the primary point of contact with General Contractors and field teams throughout the project, effectively communicating changes to field personnel

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 5 years plumbing experience with a journeyman or master’s plumbing license
- Proven experience as a Project Manager in plumbing construction or related industry
- Strong estimating and project management skills
- Knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, and codes
- Proficiency in reading construction plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members
- Solid understanding of project budgets, schedules, and cost control
- Ability to multitask and prioritize projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
- Valid driver's license

Business Development:
- Attend customer meetings and interviews as a technical resource and to present/sell plumbing capabilities
- Establish and maintain relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and others in the industry
- Actively participate in industry and customer events to promote the company's plumbing services
- Cross-sell other areas of the business to customers to drive growth and revenue
